The 2022 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS)
The 2022 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS) sheds light on pressing issues facing adolescent girls and young women in Kenya regarding sexual and reproductive health. Despite progress, such as an increased Contraceptive Prevalence Rate (CPR), critical gaps persist. For example, early sexual activity remains prevalent, emphasizing the need for accessible SRH information and services.
Teenage pregnancy rates have slightly decreased, but there's still a significant unmet need for family planning. Additionally, STI prevalence among girls is three times higher than boys, with young people contributing to high rates of new HIV infections. SGBV is alarmingly high, linked to unintended pregnancies and unsafe abortions.
In response, the Nena na Binti Call Center aims to provide uninterrupted SRH information and services, empowering individuals to make informed choices and improve health outcomes.
